On September 4, 2026, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Constantin Floros passed away in Hamburg at the age of 96. Requiescat in pace!
It is not my place to write too many words about him, except to say that I owe him a great, great deal (e.g. gregorian chant, musical semantics, Berg, Mahler, Ligeti, Schoenberg). Suffice it to say: Constantin Floros was certainly one of the most important 20th-century musicologists whose influence extends into the 21st century.
On the occasion of the celebration of his 90th birthday, I wrote this short fanfare for Professor Floros, the score of which I presented to him on his special day. It consists of only two notes, corresponding to the initials of his name.
